Adam Shiff's practice focuses on all aspects of restructuring, bankruptcy, and related litigation. He has over thirty years of experience working on out-of-court restructurings and bankruptcy proceedings. Adam regularly represents distressed companies, formal and informal committees of investors in distressed companies and purchasers of distressed debt, assets and companies. He is also the author of numerous articles on these subjects. 

His matters have included the representation of:

• Transcendia, a Goldman Sachs Asset Management portfolio company, in its restructuring and recapitalization.

• A private equity firm and its portfolio companies in various restructurings.

• Hudson Bay Capital, as acquisition financier, in the chapter 11 case of Sorrento Therapeutics.

• Knight-Swift in the acquisition of assets from chapter 11 debtor Yellow Corporation.

• Multiple parties in connection with the Puerto Rico restructuring.

• Fred's, a retailer with 556 general merchandise and pharmacy stores, in its chapter 11 case.

• Harbinger Capital in connection with the LightSquared chapter 11 case, including related litigation.

• TPG Capital in the bankruptcy proceedings of portfolio company Caesars Entertainment.

• U.S. Bank and the first lien lenders to CORE Media (the American Idol franchise).

• Board of Trustees of the ResCap Liquidating Trust.

• The Official Creditors Committee of Adelphia Communications.

• Lead investors in the back-stopped rights offering for Eastman Kodak in its chapter 11 case.

Adam is recognized annually by Benchmark Litigation as a “National Practice Area Star” and by The Legal 500 as an "effective and industrious lawyer" in Finance: Corporate Restructuring. He is named a Restructuring and Insolvency Expert by Euromoney and has also been recognized by Chambers USA, IFLR 1000, and Super Lawyers.

Prior to joining HBB, Adam was a partner in the Restructuring Department of Fried Frank, a partner at Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP for over 25 years, and an associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.
