Andrew R. Kurland
Andrew focuses his practice on commercial litigation, arbitration, and trial work and has appeared in numerous state and federal courts throughout the country where he has represented a wide variety of individual and corporate clients, including commercial real estate and hospitality developers, private equity firms, hedge funds, commodities traders, asset managers, healthcare providers, and fintechs. Andrew has handled a large range of disputes for both plaintiffs and defendants including matters involving traditional torts as well as fraud and RICO claims, complex contract disputes, civil forfeiture, and the False Claims Act. Andrew also has significant experience representing clients in disputes involving credit facilities and complex financial products (such as asset backed securities and other collateralized debt obligations, credit default swaps, futures, and auction rate securities).

An aluminum importer and distributor in a multibillion-dollar, multi-national dispute concerning U.S. tariffs and civil forfeiture.
An asset manager in litigation concerning the administration of a billion-dollar securitization of student loans that issued auction rate bonds.
Hedge funds in trust instruction proceedings against major financial institutions.
An investment fund and its principals in numerous arbitrations and federal and state court cases arising out of a catastrophic event in the natural gas futures market.
A commodities broker in connection with its dispute with a financial institution regarding enforcement of a letter of credit.
A major real estate developer in connection with claims related to its multibillion-dollar acquisition of a hotel chain with locations throughout North America.
A residential real estate development firm and affiliates in connection with disputes regarding a well-known timeshare property in Manhattan.
High net worth individual and corporate clients in connection with disputes with insurers and insurance brokerages.
A private equity firm in numerous matters, including in bankruptcy proceedings and multiple state and federal court actions concerning its portfolio company in the gaming and entertainment industry.
The conservator for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in multiple actions against financial institutions relating to the government sponsored entities’ purchase of residential mortgage backed securities.
The owner of a satellite communications firm in connection with a multibillion-dollar dispute with its creditors and other stakeholders.
